I imagine this person basking in the glory of their friendships, radiating bliss from the warmth of their company. I envision them enjoying rosé in the park with fresh cherries during peak cherry season. The park becomes a stroll leading them to Spanish tapas and somehow they find themselves on a dance floor at 2AM. They wake up the next morning fresh faced without a hint of a hangover.
My painting creates crystalized moments of an imagined future in which Black women are protected and adorned. These evanescent snapshots depict Black women safely expressing the full spectrum of our emotions without activating biases or internalized stereotypes. Whether radiating bliss, laughing hysterically or expressing frustration, this imagined future is a safe space.
